Title: Old forum posts
Post by: Holomorph on January 27, 2005, 03:42:52 PM
It might be useful to people if the old forum posts were available to look through for answers. . .then again maybe there will be more traffic on this board if new people have to ask the same stuff again  :D

Heh, I was wondering when someone was going to make a post.

Actually the old forums got maybe a new post a month.

Honestly, I have no way of importing the old content.  The forum was hosted by an free external provider and the forum was extremely simple.  At best I could write a parser to parse out the posts, but the old forum didn't have user accounts, and it would be hard to match the old posts to users.  Besides, there really wasn't enough content there worth saving.

I haven't put a huge amount of effort into this trying to bring "life" to this forum because I don't expect it to go far and there are much better alternatives out there.  Mostly the forum is up because it took hardly any effort to set up, and basically I consider this "public e-mail" for now.  For those of you listening out there, I do check this at least once a day despite the traffic volume, so I will respond to your posts almost as quickly as I would e-mail.

yea, actually I was just thinking a quick look over the old stuff and  maybe copy and paste any really good bits into a text file or something; though I can't remember if there actually was anything worth saving there.

Anyway, I'm about to dive back into using GNE in my new game; just re-reading some of the documentation again so I can try to remember how it works.
